Courts that hear complaints for tenant evictions and judgments are now closed throughout California and not accepting new unlawful detainer (eviction) complaints. Sheriff’s have suspended lock-outs, the act of deputies physically removing tenants the courts have evicted. April 6th has been published as the re-opening date for the courts, subject to change of course. Current emergency rules in the State of California do not permit landlords to evict tenants, so if you have a problem with a tenant due to non-payment of rent or other lease violation that would normally be cause for eviction, consult your attorney.
